Upholstery cleaning

With upholstery cleaning there are three primary methods of cleaning, but all assume careful dry vacuuming before chemicals are applied. Most upholstery responds best when wet cleaned.

The three methods of upholstery cleaning are:

DRY FOAM – This method involves the application of foaming detergent solution onto fabric using brush or natural sponge. This is followed by “wet” vacuuming with a wet pick-up canister vacuum. The process is then repeated on heavily soiled areas until a satisfactory result is achieved.

SHAMPOO – This method is similar to the dry foam method in that a foaming detergent solution is applied onto the fabric with a brush or natural sponge, but more moisture is used resulting in longer drying and better soil suspension. Next wet vacuuming with a wet pick-up canister vacuum takes place and the process is repeated until satisfactory results are achieved.

HOT WATER EXTRACTION – This is the recommended cleaning method by most manufactures. Spray hot pre-conditioner onto fabric. For maximum soil suspension pre-conditioner is agitated into fabric. After allowing adequate dwell time for heavy soil areas, hot rinse (hot water extraction) the fabric to flush out suspended soil and excess pre-conditioner from the fabric.
